Johann Sebastian Bach

And this week... J.S Bach!

Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisenach, Germany,   When he was 10, both his parents died. He was brought up by his older brother.

People thought of Bach as just an ordinary working musician. He was not popular. No one really knew much about his music until 100 years after his death, when another composer, Felix Mendelssohn, conducted a performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion.

He died when he was 65. he has a problem with his eyes. When he died he was totally blind.

Listen to his two most popular compositions and REMEMBER THEIR NAMES:

 BADINERIE:

TOCATA Y FUGA:

Bach is now seen as one of the greatest geniuses in music history. He wrote all kinds of music -- for organ and other keyboard instruments, orchestras, choirs, and concertos for many different instrumental combinations.

Let's start with a simple rhythm! Just crotchets.

Now, the bass drum plays quavers 🎵

This pattern combines the last two.

Similar to the last one.

The following four patterns are used to mark changes.

Remember to use different hands for each color.

Can you move both hands at the same time?

This one is really easy!

You are ready, let's rock! 🙌

Do you remember the french composer Claude Debussy?

Debussy was born in France. He was the oldest of five children. His family had little money.

He began taking lessons at the age of 7. His aunt payed for it. By the age of 10, he entered the Paris Conservatory. He created a new music style!

Debussy was also strongly affected by the ART he saw at the Paris World Exposition of 1889.

We call this period: IMPRESSIONISM.

He was 55 when he died. He had cancer disease.
